Pre-treatment Advice
- A patch test is required at least 24 hours before your appointment regardless of if you've had the treatment elsewhere before.
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin & ibuprofen for 24 hours before and after treatment, as they can thin the blood. However, you must not discontinue any medications before consulting with your GP.
- Please avoid caffeine 24 hours before your treatment, this is also a blood thinner and can cause excessive bleeding therefore leading to poor retention of the ink.
- Avoid power shakes and power greens, fish oil and 'Hair, skin & nails' supplements 24 hours prior.
- Glycolic/Retin A/Chemical Peels should be discontinued 4 weeks prior to treatment.
- AHA's should not be used 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after (check your face wash, moisturiser etc for anything that says acid).
- Chemical/Laser treatment should not be performed 6 weeks prior to treatment.
- Botox (Brows only) or Lip Filler (Lip Blush only) should not be performed 4 weeks before or after your treatment.
- It's recommended to wash your hair on the day of your appointment, it's not essential however it makes life a little easier during the first few days (note: you will not be able to get your brows wet for two weeks so bare this in mind also).
- Avoid brow serums for two weeks prior.
- If you wear brow make up please wear this to your appointment so we can see your preferred colour.
- You do not need to shape your brows prior as this will be done within the treatment.
- Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for one week prior.
- Brow Lamination and Henna brows should not be completed for 3 weeks prior or 8 weeks after.
- Under no circumstances can children or pets be brought to your appointment.
aftercare - BROWS
Like any treatment, to get the best results from your new brows aftercare is key
Day 1 – Your eyebrows are very sensitive and swollen. They also appear too dark. A few hours after the treatment, boil the kettle, let it cool down (sterile water) and use a damp cotton pad to blot any lymphatic fluid off. Repeat this every 3 hours. This will reduce the amount of scabbing.
Day 2 – Gently cleanse your brows with a small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad. Be very gentle and make sure your hands are clean. After cleaning your brows apply a thin layer of ointment (supplied to you). Normal skin: Repeat it 2-3 times a day. Oily skin: do this once a day. Continue this until the scabs have fallen off.
Days 5 – 10 – Usually around day 5, the scabbing stage begins. Let the scabs fall off naturally. If you touch them, you risk ruining your brows.
On the 14th day, if all scabs have gone you can go back to your everyday routine. You can wash your face normally and apply makeup if required.
- Keep your brows dry for 14 days. If your brows get wet, gently blot them dry with a lint free tissue.
- It's very important that you do not rub or pick your brows at all during the healing period.
- No extreme heat, cold or moisture for 14 days after treatment (this includes; direct sun, sun beds, saunas/steam rooms, swimming pools)
- Avoid heavy sweating for the first 7 days after the procedure.
- Avoid makeup for 14 days after treatment and any be careful of other creams/ointments you use in your normal skin routine.
- Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure.
- No facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
- Your brows will look considerably lighter after the scabbing stage however the colour will resurface after 4-6 weeks.
- Please note that any alterations cannot be made until after the brows have healed.
aftercare - LIP BLUSH
After your procedure you may experience swelling, burning, soreness, redness, irritation and flaking within 48 hours, this is all normal.
Please clean your lips after eating or drinking anything (other than water), with cool boiled water and a cotton pad.
Ensure you wipe gently and then apply a thin layer of the ointment provided.
Please be careful when eating and drinking. You may want to drink through a straw, be careful when you brush your teeth.
If you suffer from cold sores, please ensure you take the same medication for at your top up to prevent an outbreak.
The true colour of the lips can take at least 6 weeks for the final healed results.
